Welcome to Opportunity to Make Choices, a non-profit organization dedicated to empowering teens to become capable, resilient adults. Through our flagship program, Teach the Gifted Academy, we provide comprehensive education and guidance to students, equipping them with the skills and knowledge they need to succeed in life and academics.

At Opportunity to Make Choices, our vision is centered on empowerment. We believe in providing every individual who engages with our programs the tools and resources necessary to cultivate resilience and thrive in the face of challenges.

Through our efforts, we are proud to share that we've made a tangible impact in our community. To date, we've prevented over 60 adults from facing homelessness in Killeen and the surrounding areas. This achievement underscores the significance of our mission and the effectiveness of our programs in creating positive change.

About Me:

Welcome to Opportunity to Make Choices, where we believe in the power of education and the importance of guiding young adults towards finding their path in life. I'm Natasha Harris, the founder of Opportunity to Make Choices and Teach the Gifted Academy. Originally hailing from California, I made Killeen, Texas, my home in 2001.

With a deep-rooted passion for education and a heart dedicated to helping others, I hold a master's degree in education and a bachelor's in social work. My journey has been guided by faith, and with God's grace, I've successfully raised my own biological children, alongside embarking on a fulfilling career in teaching, which began in 2004. 

In 2011, I took on the role of a foster parent, a decision that further solidified my commitment to supporting children in need. Over the past three decades, I've poured my heart and soul into both raising and teaching children, witnessing firsthand the transformative impact that guidance and support can have on young lives.

As a foster parent, I intimately understood the profound need for nurturing and guidance among children facing adversity. This understanding fueled my desire to create Opportunity to Make Choices, a platform dedicated to providing the support and resources necessary for young adults to thrive and discover their full potential.
